Hi all!
So, how do we break the ice when networking? There are many ways I use and have not thought of. I am hoping that many people share their ways of breaking the ice while networking too. So, I may also learn new things while networking too.
I think sharing personal information is a good start. Not details such as names, places, and etc. We do have to be careful on the net. But, how many children, what our favorite restaurant is, and hobbies.
This might seem weird...but, I do just write. Do I check for typos in my emails yes. Do I correct them sometimes. But, only when the sentence structure is not recognizable. I do this for many reasons.
A) When you invite contacts or friends. You are also searching for your business. Well, I would rather work with somebody that can overlook a typo or two. If they overlook your faults. Then, they can overlook other peoples faults. They can work with you and their own team easily. In business you do need to look professional, but you also need to be kind and understanding. I would not want to look perfect and be perfect all the time. In business we all make mistakes we are human to do as such. What we need in our business is to find others to pick us up when mistakes ARE made. Not to bring us down.
B) I do not go out the front door looking for the first mild mannered perfectly dressed always enunciating every word beautifully and chews every bite 100 times kind of friend. So, why would I search for my friends online that way?
I know that it might seem hard to have typos but no I do it pretty easily. LOL! But, at least, I work with a team of people I am able to talk to. They are my support system in business and as my friends. They chose me and I chose them. We have perfectly fit. Who erally wants to be perfect all the time? That is stressful and a hard fall when you do make a mistake.
So how do you break the ice?
