I am looking for a worldwide flat fee for mobile phones!

Hello forum members,

as many of you already know I am a military spouse and my husband is getting deployed in April of this year for another 15 months again.

It's his third tour to Iraq and I remember our outrageous phone bills we had last tour.

I have been searching the net for a mobile flat fee contract that works worldwide, I would be even willing to get a contract for each one of us with a flat fee (like a bundle) if only it is guranteed that our calls to each others cell phone will be free.

We cant use VoiP because he wont have internet connection and I cant sign up for a contratc if it doesnt cover certain areas. From experiences I know that all soldiers first arrive in Kuwait and stay there for a couple of months. I am in Germany but also going on leave to the US while he is gone.

So I'd need a provider that covers Iraq and Kuwait as well as Germany and the US. Complicated huh? lol

If you think I am he only one with this issue then I can name you another ten thousand spouses who'd love to have a worldwide contract as well.

Being in 2008 you might think that one phone company realized that this is a huge niche they could cover knowing that over 1 Million Soldiers are spread all over the world but thats not the case.

I have researched for two weeks now, reading every T&C to its details but I wasnt lucky yet.

Can anyone please help me? Like I said, all I need is like a partner contract, one for my cell phone and one for my husbands cell phone, we dont even need new cell phones, just the sim cards with the contracts where we can talk for free for a monthly flat fee.

Please Help????

Well the only service that i heard of is cheapvoip. The beauty of this program is that it has the lowest rates on the whole net. I know i know you said that it's hard to use voip because of your condition. But the good part is that only one of you needs internet and you can call cell and landlines also.

Also there are many countries which you can call for free (USA (cell and landlines), UK(landlines))

I tested the service out with dawn and it didn't cost me a penny. Btw you have to deposit 10$ if you want to make calls.

Iraq (Landline) 0.050 euro
Iraq (Mobile) 0.160 euro
Kuwait (Landline) 0.040 euro
Kuwait (Mobile) 0.060 euro

Hello Reislet,

thank you for the info, unfortunately i would need a cell phone to use as well since i wont be sitting at home all day. I already looked into the "Free In-Network Calling Worldwide" but when they say world wide they dont mean world wide. Like I said I wouldnt mind having to get a contract for me and one for my husband as long as it is for our mobile phones, a flat fee (bundle or partner contract or something) and covers those four countries Germany, US, Iraq and Kuwait.

Hello Di thank you for looking around for me, were you in the army before? the phone bills are outrageous, i easily paid up to $1000 per month loading both of our cell phones with money (we had pre paid cards) several times a week. I dont want to do that again.

I really hope I will find a solution, four other couples ( my friends) are waiting for a solution from me as well lol

I have a communications section in my website under the services tab, I do not know if it will be what your looking for.

I know how it is too, I use to travel alot when I was in the Navy. Very expensive when I was overseas to call my family and friends.

Hi Julia,

I use voip for all of my outgoing calls mostly for free.
For instance, I phoned a mobile in the USA from the UK for over an hour for free (I had to pay a $10 user charge on start-up for a four month or so period)

so for a one way usage it is great!
