I read the whole post and i must say that there are many interesting ways. I started out with no idea of internet marketing so i went in to boot camp for 2 moths. Read through a lot of BS and many free ebooks, joined different sites (some scams) but i'm out now. Finally found a program on what i can work with, i trust it and believe in it. The best way for me till now it joining forums and networkcommunity's just like adlandpro and all that.

You have contact with the people so you can let them see what you doing and if its succesfull and above all..is it paying
For me is that the best way to get people in my downline..i'm now in this for just two months and have a downline of 25 people and for a newbie like me i think it's very good.
