Well- After reading all these pet stories, I couldn't help but to share about our pet kids.

We have 3 quarterhorses: a stud- Pistol, a mare- MizRed, and a colt. The colt, AMMO, parented by Pistol and MizRed, severely injured his back right leg, May2, and we are still nursing it. He was 10 mos old at the time. We just hope he will decide to walk on all fours again. The 3 horses are all beautiful and we keep them better than ourselves! LOL They each have distinctive personalities, but all tend to be laid back.

We have 3 dogs. Our mini-dachshund is 11 now. She was the only female in a litter of 4, that her 'dad' fathered. We owned her dad, Hansel. Gretel came from his only litter. We lost him when he was 8 to a rattlesnake. Yes, we have those here in the south. Gretel is a sweetie. She loves to come in at night and sit with us in the recliner. She has beautiful ears... I love her ears. She is red.

We have Lucy, a golden retreiver/ shepard mix we found by the road as a puppy. She was pitiful then. Now, she's a beauty. Gold with a black muzzle and black eyes. She's very street smart.

We have Sienna, a full-blooded golden retriever who was given to us when she was near 1 yr. She was going to be 'put down' by her owner because she didn't take to the field training (hunting plantation) like he wanted her too. She was a beauty then and still is now. She literally turns heads when we take her somewhere.

Last , but not least, our newest addition.
Princess Lily (named by our granddaughters), our 10-wk old kitten. She is a mix of a bobcat and a domestic moma. She's quick, intelligent, and spoiled. I never thought I would ever have an indoor cat. GEEZ! This has gotta stop!

SO- WHEW! If you lasted though all that... you're as bad about pets as I am!!

Whatever they wan"t to call the "mix" , Louie sure is a cutie !

I can't believe that they have breeders that are actually now 'mix-breeding" and selling these puppies for the prices that they are asking !
And to pay to have the puppy flown in via commercial airline too ! There are puppies here in our local newpapers such as "shih-poos", "llasa-doodles", "malti-poos" that sell for upwards of $200 !!

I just can't see paying that kind of money for a "mutt" ( Don't get me wrong, I love mutts ! Most of the dogs I've ever had have been mixed breeds.) There are thousands of these types of dogs and puppies that can be obtained for a very low cost through shelters, and even free from owners !! It just is terrible that so many of these sweet animals are being left homeless and being euthanized. It breaks my heart !!

I never paid for a dog but did have one flown from Florida to NY. I was visiting my brother and his friend had a black cocker spaniel that he was going to take to the pound, this is an older dog so chance of adoption was slim. This dog was so friendly it broke my heart, but my friend in NY had just lost her dog and I called her up and she said she would take it. So as a present I had the dog flown to NY.

i was really upset when i cam home from my hoilday.
I really missed my baby winston and when i came in he gave me a welcome like i had just been to the supermarket and then never bothered with me the rest of the day.
My friend who i was on hoilday with had the same reaction from her 2 dogs and we have worked out that they where giving us the cold shoulder for leaving them

2 days later and now my baby is totally in love with me again ,having cuddles ,sleep under the computer desk and being my shadow again

I can totally relate to that !! When we took our last vacation, which was also a 2 week trip , our pets did us the same way !! It really hurt my feelings too because I felt so guilty about leaving them for so long in the first place...
Pets can be just like people....
